Mountain Scenery - Dart River Valley and surrounding mountains including peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park in late summe. near Glenorchy, Queenstown, Otago, South Island, New Zealand. Queenstown and the area around Lake Wakatipu including the mountains around Glenorchy near the borders of Mt. Aspiring National Park were used for the filming of many scenes for the Lord of the Rings Triology. The area around Glenorchy including the Dart River Valley was used as the fictional location of Lothlorien and Amon Hen. Of course many of the scenes were digitally altered so the original places are not easy to recognize
