The call of Spring Peepers (Hyla crucifer) are often one the first sounds of spring in the eastern United States. They are so sensitive to changes in temperature that calls can sometimes be heard on warm days in late fall. These diminuative tree frogs spend most of their time hidden in moist leaf litter. This newly emerged froglet is so small that it can perch on a blade of grass
