San Joaquin Kit Fox
San Joaquin Kit Fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica). That's a male SJKF, heading back to the den where there were 5 pups. He had just made an attempt at catching a Jack rabbit but had the living daylights beat out of it by the rabbit. This photograph was taken in the SE corner of the San Joaquin Valley, east of Bakersfield, CA
