Tuatara lizard
Tuatara lizard (Sphenodon punctatus). Rainbow Springs North Island New Zealand. Sphenodon is an ancient survivor from the Juassic period - the age of dinosaurs and survives in limited numbers on some of New Zealands outlying islands where predators have been eliminated. Sex is determined by temperature so there are concerns that global warming might result in a much higher percentage of males
