Southern Right Whale - white calf near mother (Eubalaena australis). Off Puerto Piramide, Valdes Peninsula, Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina. Each season a few white calves are born in the population that breeds off the Valdes Peninsula. Similar youngsters are also born among the southern right whales that breed off Australia. They are mostly white, with a sprinkling of black spots and dark areas. English-speaking people affectionately call them little Dalmatians of the Sea.
