Killer whales/ Orca - transient type
Killer whales/ Orca - transient type (Orcinus orca). Monterey Bay, Pacific Ocean, California, USA. There are three types of recognised Killer Whales - resident, transients and offshore'. Physical differences are subtle, the main difference being habitat preferences, behaviour, primarily feeding behaviour. Residents spend the summer months eating fish in British Columbia and around San Juan Islands, transients hunt marine mammals and travel long distances up and down the coast and offshores live mostly offshore dn their habits are poorly known
