It separates the uppermost part of the Lance Formation (Cretaceous), from the Tullock Member of the Fort Union Formation (Tertiary). The hill at right is composed of the Lance Formation (Cretaceous); the upper part of the one at left is composed of Tertiary rocks. The K-T boundary is near the base of the hill at left
