GEOLOGY: K-T boundary - Sample of the K-T boundary claystone from the Sussex locality, Wyoming, USA. Sample is 18 mm thick. The very top part is a fragile laminated carbonaceous layer containing grains of sand (quartz). Many of them present the mulitple fracture lines created by the impact ('shocked quartz')
