Striated Heron

Striated Heron (Butorides striatus macrorhynchus). Roebuck Bay, northern Western Australia. Confined to coastal regions of northern and eastern Australia and sometimes adjacent wetlands. Commonly near mangroves. Often secretive but will forage along channels in mudflats. This bird was roosting among rocks at high tide when nearby mudflats were inundated
