Rhesus MACAQUE MONKEY - sitting on rock
Rhesus MACAQUE MONKEY - sitting on rock (Macaca mulatta). Nilgiri Hills, part of the Western Ghats. Southwest India, Asia. Found from Afghanistan through India to northern Thailand. Their name was given to the hereditary blood antigen Rh-factor also found in humans. They are often used in research eg biological, medical and psychological. They are omnivorous and may cause damage to crops. Hindus for whom animals are sacred do little to prevent damage
