Great Egret and Intermediate Egret (Egretta intermedia)
Great Egret and Intermediate Egret (Egretta intermedia) size comparison (Egretta alba). At a wetland near Mt Barnett, Gibb River Road, Kimberley, Western Australia. When seen alone these 2 species can sometimes be confusing. The rule of thumb is that the Intermediate Egret has a neck the same length as the body and the neck of the Great Egret is one and a half times body length
