Crimson Finch - gathering grass for a nest (Neochmia phaeton phaeton). Manning Gorge, Gibb River Road, Kimberley, Western Australia. Usually inhabits pandanus lined creeks but sometimes forages some distance away. This is the black-bellied subspecies phaeton. Occurs from the Kimberley across northern Northern Territory and north Queensland where the white-bellied subspecies lives
