Australian Aboriginal rock art. near Raft Point along the Kimberley coastline in the far northeast of Western Australia. Known as Wandjina art. Aborigines speak of spirit beings with bodily form ie Wandjinas, as having painted these figures. Aboriginal responsibility was to keep them in good condition. Human figures have no mouths. If mouths were drawn it was believed there would be heavy rains and the land would flood. Accessible only by boat
