Known as Wandjina art as Aborigines speak of spirit beings with bodily form ie Wandjinas as having painted these figures. Aboriginal responsibility was to keep them in good condition. Dugongs prominent. Human figures have no mouths. If mouths were drawn it was believed there would be much rain and the land would flood. Accessible only by boat
