England - Aerial view. Herefordshire Beacon, the site of the spectacular Iron Age hill fort of British Camp. Malvern Hills, Worcestershire. The first hill fort was built in the 3rd century BC and enclosed the very top of the hill. Later, during the 1st century BC, the entire ridge was defended by a single rampart and ditch with a continuous counter scarp enclosing some 13 hectares (32 acres) and supported some 2, 000 people. Many hut circles are visible inside the defences of the fort
