Swimming anemone - A beautiful, flower-like animal
Swimming anemone - A beautiful, flower-like animal, frequently seen attached to corals and sea fans. (Nemanthus sp.). New South Wales, Australia. Some are striped, some are spotted, and some are pure white. Unlike many of their anemone-cousins who are firmly attached to the substrate, Swimming Anemones frequently move around. They travel from spot to spot via a form of jet propulsion, rapidly opening and closing the feathery tentacles that surround its mouth.Becca Saunders / Auscape / ardea.com
