Siberian lemming - adult in winter, on snow in tundra; quickly digs snow in attempt to escape (Lemmus sibirica). Taimyr peninsula, Kara sea shore, North of Siberia, Russian Arctic. rarely comes on surface of snow (to escape water from melting snow, for example) and lives mostly in snow burrows just above the soil surface (snow might be from 1m on plain tundra to 6 metres in ravines)
